No. 23 / 1996

MADE IT!  Here is the very first issue of Scarlet Street which I laid eyes on, #23!  What could it have been that caught my attention?  Well, there's Bela right at the top for one thing, looking as wonderfully menacing as he can.  "King Kong" is dead center, and the name Ray Harryhausen in the top right-hand corner draws the eye.  Oh, and there's two half-naked beautiful looking people of both sexes (Irish McCalla & Chris Atkins) on each side of the cover sandwiching in "Kong".  How could one go wrong?

That's the thing about Scarlet Street, it always seemed so inclusive.  Everyone was invited to open the pages and enjoy what's inside.  Yet, don't be fooled, as with each issue, Richard Valley would strive to keep some sort of theme alive throughout the magazine.  It was never just a hodgepodge of unrelated articles, each issue had a life of its own.

So with this, my 'homecoming' issue, I can happily say Merry Christmas and (God-willing) I will (in three years) be able to finish up posting all 55 issues in time for Xmas 2019.  This is also that time of year I take a short break from posting, but #24 is planned to be out for Valentine's Day 2017.

So with that, here's a huge HAPPY HOLIDAYS wish to all!  It is a sincere wish for everyone to enjoy this time of year in the unique way each one does, yet hopefully in Peace and with Love.
