I can only imagine the tremendous impact that the death of Jeremy Brett must have had on the fans, staff and readers of Scarlet Street. Even by the time I'd seen my first issue (#23), I wasn't familiar with him or his work (gasp!), yet I'd notice later references to him appearing from time-to-time even still, years after he was gone, in these pages. Well, he was literally a huge part of the foundation of the magazine and had it not been for his portrayal of the famous character Sherlock Holmes, it is highly doubtful there would have ever been a Scarlet Street Magazine. This had to have been a devastating time, yet the fact that the magazine would go on and continue to strengthen in its dynamics is a testament that it certainly by now was living a life of its own!
So with that, let us open this new season of ShOCk-tober with one heck of a scream: "It's Alive! ALIVE!" We'll be back at the end of the Halloween month with #21 also, as Scarlet Street, The Magazine of Mystery and Horror continues to live on.
